Pricing Changes as of July 1st, 2019
For 12 years now we have been an amazing health centre offering hundreds of treatments and invigorating communities with health and wellness. We have done this for over a decade on a very tight budget, and as is common for small business owners, sometimes with no compensation at all. In 2018 we experienced several major setbacks and it breaks our hearts to share that despite our best efforts we are now facing potential closure of our beloved Six Degrees, the first Community Acupuncture & Traditional Medicine health clinic in Canada on the Traditional Territories of the Anishnaabe, Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee People.
To ensure we are able to stay open we are raising sliding scale prices and asking community members to promote the clinic and help fill our chairs.
• We will have one option for Community Acupuncture with a sliding scale of $35 – 85, with Susanda and Lamia’s pricing starting at $50.
• Private treatment fees will be sliding scale or fixed rates, depending on the service and practitioner.
Six Degrees is vital to community health, especially now with the world suffering all around us. With community care we will bounce back and be able to serve more and more people. Together we can rise again to continue offering effective and inclusive health care. Six Degrees generates so much healing and none of this would have been possible without the support from clients, the dedication of practitioners and workers at Six Degrees and inspiration from revolutionary grassroots community health centres. Traditional and Natural Medicines have been supporting people and communities for thousands of years and we are asking all of you to do as much as you can right now to help Six Degrees keep going.
To pull through and flourish we are:
• Asking everyone to pay $5+ more
• Introducing an income assessment worksheet for you to be better informed about how much you need to pay on a sliding scale
• Asking everyone who has benefitted from Six Degrees to spread the word about the effective treatments you have been having (click here to win a prize of $285 value for referring by July 15!)
Interdependence in action!
Sliding Scale rates work when:
1. Our clients tell their communities about the benefits of Acupuncture.
Through referrals we keep the chairs full which is required for any clinic working with a sliding scale fee system. So please spread the word about the benefits of Acupuncture and the unique healing presence of Six Degrees!
2. Everyone financially prioritizes their health and pays as much as they can
We ask that you enter into the new model with mutual trust, and consider your income and expenses carefully in order to maintain accessible pricing. When more people are able to receive Acupuncture it is more possible for our schedule/chairs to be full, which is essential for the model to work.
It has been 5 years since we raised our prices. After trying 2 tier pricing, we are coming back to a sliding scale and asking everyone to assess their budget to pay at least $5 more. Alongside an increase in prices, your voices are needed to share the effectiveness of treatment and the positive impacts receiving treatments at Six Degrees has had in your lives and communities.
Why do Lamia and Susanda start at $50?
For 12 years Lamia and Susanda have been refining Community Acupuncture. With over 10,000 treatments each, these two practitioners offer you the depth of a Traditional East Asian Medicine Acupuncture treatment within a sliding scale fee that is sustainable for the whole clinic. To do this we start our scale at $50, and we work with your treatment plan and our whole CA team to meet your personal health goals.
In every person there resides an indestructible powerful life force. With this force, when wecome together, community strength becomes greater than any one of us alone. We are profoundly grateful for all we have collectively transformed so far. As we face collective global suffering and the very real possibility of having to close our doors we call on you, our community, to connect with your force and use it, in part, to support Six Degrees. With our doors open we will continue to invigorate community with the insights and healing we need to survive.
